These are not opinion rankings. Nobody at SPIN picks who is No. 1. POP, Production Over Potential, is calculated from what each player has actually done this season, game by game, from the box scores of his games, weighed for who he did it against and where. Stars, offers, highlight tapes and reputation are not in the math. Two things are: what he produced, and the competition he produced it against.
That is why big numbers against weak opponents do not rank high here, and why a big game against a great opponent is the most valuable thing on these boards. Consistency counts too: a full season of steady games is worth more than one monster night surrounded by quiet ones. The rules are set before the numbers come in, and they apply to every player in every region the same way.
Below: the Top 10 at every position across Nevada through Week 10, games of Oct. 15 to 17 included, plus the Two-Way board. The board covers every NIAA class with a rated player, north and south. The full Top 25 at every position, a Top 10 for every class and every rated player in the state live on the Player Rankings tab, updated every Wednesday.
What changed this week
Thaddeus Thatcher holds No. 1 at quarterback (90) after 25 of 37 for 385 yards and five touchdowns in Arbor View's 37-13 win over Coronado, his seventh game with a posted box score. Ace Amina of Bishop Gorman is No. 2 at 86. Dominick Folino of Faith Lutheran moves from No. 8 to No. 6 (78) on 8 of 11 for 156 yards and two scores against Somerset Academy Losee, and Ryder Tucker of McQueen enters the Top 10 at No. 9 (74) after 162 passing yards, 63 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the 38-13 win over Damonte Ranch.
Tamatoa Gaoteote holds 99 at linebacker, still the only 99 in the state. Braylon Ivory of Bishop Gorman enters the Top 10 at No. 4 (90) on his sixth game, six tackles, two for loss and a sack against Sports Leadership and Management. Kazuya Lewis of Coronado holds No. 8 and moves to 82 after nine tackles against Arbor View.
LaDarian Bell of Las Vegas moves from No. 13 to No. 7 on the defensive line (84, up from 79) with six tackles, three for loss, and a sack against Shadow Ridge; with two earlier box scores now posted he stands at 24 tackles for loss and nine sacks on eight games. Caleb Lea'Ea of Bishop Gorman holds No. 1 at 92. Ethan Bailey of Faith Lutheran moves from No. 11 to No. 8 (82) on seven tackles, two for loss.
Miah Milan of Damonte Ranch holds No. 1 at tight end (88, up from 86) and No. 1 on the Two-Way board (87) after three catches for 44 yards and a touchdown plus 12 tackles, three for loss, and a sack in the loss to McQueen. Chase Beck of McQueen holds No. 3 at 79 on five catches for 59 yards in that game, and CJ Doerffler of Bishop Manogue moves from No. 5 to No. 4 (75) on three catches for 44 yards and a score against Reed.
Steven Bullock III of Las Vegas moves from No. 17 to No. 9 at running back (75) after 20 carries for 139 yards against Shadow Ridge; with two earlier games now in his record he has 1,199 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on nine games. Corey Hinton of Bishop Gorman holds No. 1 at 87 after a rushing and a receiving touchdown on two touches in the 69-0 win over Sports Leadership and Management.
Nehemiah Dunlap-Myvett of Centennial of Las Vegas moves from No. 13 to No. 8 at wide receiver (79) on eight catches for 140 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Zyren Menor of Bishop Gorman holds No. 1 at 84. Gavin Folino of Faith Lutheran (No. 4 to No. 9) and Jesse Douglas of Reed (No. 6 to No. 10) slide as others play a game they did not match.
Carter Christensen of Liberty moves to No. 2 at defensive back (88), ahead of Brayley Manning of Bishop Gorman (87), and Eyzen Albano of Mater Academy East Las Vegas, a freshman, enters the Top 10 at No. 10 (82) with his second interception. Ace Brimmer of Faith Lutheran holds No. 1 at 91. Maxton Richardson of Churchill County falls from No. 9 to No. 20 (78) after two quiet games.
Calin Anderson of Churchill County moves from No. 9 to No. 4 on the Two-Way board (75) after a rushing and a receiving touchdown in the 42-14 win over Elko, and Layton Bachhuber of Coronado moves from No. 15 to No. 6 (74) on four tackles and a forced fumble against Arbor View.
Coaches, post your box scores. POP can only count what gets recorded. About two in three Nevada team-games from Oct. 15 to 17 had a box score in when this week's numbers were run. When a program posts no box score, or logs only part of what its players did, those players lose credit for work they actually did. Post full box scores, offense and defense, every week. If a stat is wrong, tell us and show us; the corrected rating shows on the next board.

How to read the number
A POP rating runs 25 to 99 on one national scale, so a 90 in Nevada means the same thing as a 90 in Utah or Southern California. GP is games with a posted stat line. Two-Way players must be rated on an offensive board and a defensive board; the Two-Way number is built from both sides.
