These are not opinion rankings. Nobody at SPIN picks who is No. 1. POP, Production Over Potential, is calculated from what each player has actually done this season, game by game, from the box scores of his games, weighed for who he did it against and where. Stars, offers, highlight tapes and reputation are not in the math. Two things are: what he produced, and the competition he produced it against.
That is why big numbers against weak opponents do not rank high here, and why a big game against a great opponent is the most valuable thing on these boards. Consistency counts too: a full season of steady games is worth more than one monster night surrounded by quiet ones. The rules are set before the numbers come in, and they apply to every player in every region the same way.
Below: the Top 10 at every position across Arizona through Week 10, games of Oct. 15 to 17 included, plus the Two-Way board. The board covers every AIA conference, 6A through 2A. The full Top 25 at every position, a Top 10 for every conference and every rated player in the state live on the Player Rankings tab, updated every Wednesday.
What changed this week
Tee Smith of Casteel takes No. 1 at quarterback (90) after 12 of 27 for 203 yards and a touchdown plus 19 carries for 153 yards and a score in the 35-22 loss to ALA - Queen Creek, his seventh game. Will Mencl of Chandler slips from 91 to 90 and No. 2 on 12 of 21 for 179 yards, an interception and a rushing touchdown in the 20-16 win over Centennial; Jason Haines of Liberty holds 90 at No. 3 after 13 of 18 for 229 yards and a score against Boulder Creek. Three quarterbacks at 90, nothing between them but the order. Noah Stewart of Brophy College Prep moves from No. 9 to No. 5 (85) on 21 of 26 for 253 yards and three touchdowns in the 46-30 win over Williams Field, and Jake Rogers of Basha enters at No. 7 (85) after 16 of 21 for 300 yards and two scores against Mesa.
Noah Roberts of Basha is No. 1 at running back (91) after four touchdowns against Mesa, three on 12 carries for 71 yards and one on four catches for 44. He passes Christian Davis of Williams Field, now No. 2 at 89. Jeremy Adeyanju of O'Connor drops from No. 4 to No. 9 on no new box score; he still stands on six games.
Austin Reese of Chandler enters at No. 2 among defensive backs (96) on five games: 20 tackles, four for loss, and an interception against Centennial, on top of 63 tackles, nine for loss, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two recoveries for the season. Kaden Miller of Liberty holds No. 1 and moves to 98, the highest defensive back rating in the state, after a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown against Boulder Creek, his fifth pick and second defensive score. Legarrette Blount Jr. of Mountain Pointe climbs from No. 10 to No. 6 (91, up from 88) after a 60-yard interception return and six tackles in the 42-31 win over Gilbert, a night on which he also caught five passes for 97 yards and three touchdowns; that lifts him from No. 9 to No. 5 on the Two-Way board (83). Kaiden Conner of Pinnacle (No. 7, 90) and Elijah Carothers of Centennial (No. 10, 89) enter the Top 10.
Ian Fullmer of Pinnacle moves to No. 1 on the defensive line (98, up from 96) after 14 tackles, four for loss, and a forced fumble in the 34-13 loss to Hamilton. On six games he stands at 27.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. Lachlan Geier of Queen Creek and Luke Franklin of Centennial hold 98 behind him, so three Arizona linemen share the state's top mark. Manu Pati of Centennial enters at No. 9 (92).
Nathaniel Olmos of Centennial jumps from No. 10 to No. 4 at linebacker (92) on six tackles, a pass defensed, a forced fumble and a recovery against Chandler. Marc Duerson of Basha enters at No. 5 (91) on five games and 62 tackles with three forced fumbles, and Iona Kupu of Chandler enters at No. 8 (91) after 13 tackles, three for loss, against Centennial. Jayden Arnold of Chandler holds No. 1 at 94.
Torrin Hill of Centennial holds No. 1 at tight end (97, down from 98) after three catches for 27 yards against Chandler; he stands at 34 catches for 804 yards and eight touchdowns on seven games. Brody Chapman of Queen Creek enters at No. 9 (82).
Braxton Huynh of Liberty holds No. 1 at receiver (92) after six catches for 161 yards against Boulder Creek. Kingston Anetema of Mesa moves to No. 2 (91) on eight catches for 152 yards and two touchdowns against Basha. Airreon Windom of Red Mountain enters at No. 6 (88) after four catches for 78 yards and a score in the 28-27 loss to Mountain View, Ryder Noche of Brophy College Prep enters at No. 7 (88), and Zerek Sidney of Desert Edge at No. 9 (87). Jai Jones of Chandler drops off the receiver Top 10 but enters the Two-Way board at No. 3 (84) after 10 tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack on defense against Centennial.
Liberty of Peoria holds eight of the 70 Top 10 spots across the seven position boards, down from 11 last week. Chandler and Hamilton hold seven each, Centennial six, Mesa and Mountain View five. Sixty of the 70 belong to 6A programs. The Two-Way board is still where the smaller conferences show up: Corbin Wood of Show Low and Jaxon Crick of Round Valley (3A), Paul Delgado of Walden Grove (4A) and three 5A players sit inside its Top 10.
Coaches, post your box scores. POP can only count what gets recorded. About two in three Arizona team-games from Oct. 15 to 17 had a box score in when this week's numbers were run. When a program posts no box score, or logs only part of what its players did, those players lose credit for work they actually did. Post full box scores, offense and defense, every week. If a stat is wrong, tell us and show us; the corrected rating shows on the next board.

How to read the number
A POP rating runs 25 to 99 on one national scale, so a 95 in Arizona means the same thing as a 95 in Utah or Southern California. GP is games with a posted stat line. Two-Way players must be rated on an offensive board and a defensive board; the Two-Way number is built from both sides.
