What SPIN publishes. SPIN covers high school football out West from the sideline: Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Northern and Southern California, and Hawaii. Four things, on a set cadence.
Game coverage. Recaps written by the person who was at the game, published the night of the game or the next morning, with our own photographs from the sideline.
Scores. A live scoreboard for every game involving a ranked team. A score is published when two independent sources agree on it, or when a primary source, the school or the state association, reports it. A score that has cleared only one source is held off the public board until it is confirmed.
Rankings. The SPIN National board, the Out West board and six regional boards, rebuilt every week after the weekend's games, plus player boards built from game statistics. How the player boards are built, and what they leave out, is published in full on the methodology page.
Film. Clips we shoot and cut ourselves at the games we attend.

Ownership. spin.media is published by Sports Idol Nation, which also builds SPIN, the team-management app used by high school programs (spin.center). The newsroom and the product are run as separate operations with separate purposes, and the terms above are how that separation is kept.

Editorial standards. We report what we saw or what we can source. A score carries the name of a SPIN reporter only when one of our people saw the game; a score read from another outlet is recorded with that outlet named in our records and is never presented as our own reporting. Nothing is guessed: a team name our system cannot match is held for a person to resolve, and a game we cannot confirm stays unpublished. Our rankings take no input from recruiting rankings, star ratings, offers or college destinations.
Corrections. When we get something wrong, we fix it at the same address and say so. A corrected article carries a dated correction note at the top and keeps its update history on the page. A corrected score keeps the earlier claim in our records, marked superseded, so what was said and when is never lost. Requests for correction go to hello@spin.media and are answered by an editor.
Use of photo and video captured at events. Photographs and video SPIN captures at a game are used for editorial purposes on spin.media and on SPIN's own social channels. They are not licensed to third parties, not resold, and not placed into any SPIN product, including the SPIN team-management app. Coverage and product are separate: the newsroom does not feed the app.
Credential requests. To request a media credential for a SPIN reporter or photographer, or to reach us about one already requested, write to hello@spin.media with "Credential request" in the subject line. Include the event, the date, and the names of the people who will attend. We reply from an editor's address, and every person we credential is listed on this page.
