De La Salle beat Centennial of Corona 35-32 at Cal on Saturday and moves up one place to fourth on this board. It is 11th in the country now, two places ahead of St. John Bosco, which did not play. Centennial falls two places to ninth.
The biggest move is at Corner Canyon, and it is not close. Skyridge intercepted Corner Canyon five times on Friday in Lehi and won 37-27. Corner Canyon falls from 25th to 75th on the SPIN Power 100 and from 10th to 19th here. Skyridge climbs from 70th to 50th nationally and passes Corner Canyon on this board, from 18th to 17th. Mountain Ridge, which beat Skyridge in August, is 12th.
How the order is set
Rows one through 23 are the SPIN Power 100, filtered to the eight states in the footprint and kept in national order. Nobody hand-adjusts them. When a team moves on the national board, it moves here, and when a team drops out of the middle, everyone below it moves up. That is why so many of this week's moves are one place up. Hamilton, Folsom, Liberty of Peoria, Cherry Creek, Mountain Ridge, Orange Lutheran, Mission Viejo, Mililani, Chandler and Pinnacle all move up one because Centennial and Corner Canyon fell past them.
Rows 24 and 25 are editorial picks, because the footprint has 23 teams inside the national hundred and this board has 25 seats. They carry NR in the national column.
Folsom needed two overtimes, Hamilton did not
Folsom survived Rocklin 29-23 in double overtime and moves up one to eighth. Hamilton won 42-14 at Williams Field and moves up one to seventh. Both are 5-0.
Mililani is still perfect
Mililani beat Campbell 35-30 on Saturday night. The Trojans are 7-0 and move up one place to 15th. They are 43rd in the country.
A record fixed
Cherry Creek won 37-21 at Cherokee Trail on Thursday. It is 4-1, not 5-0. The Colorado High School Activities Association ruled last week that Cherry Creek must forfeit its season-opening win over Chatfield, and the national board carried the old record until now. It is corrected on every board this week.
The editorial seats
Orem beat Timpview 17-14, is 4-2 and fourth on our Utah board, and moves up one to 24th. Lake Oswego takes the 25th seat. The Lakers are 4-0 and have beaten Central Catholic of Portland 42-6 and Casteel of Arizona 27-20. West Linn, which lost 36-35 to Nelson on a two-point conversion with seven seconds left, comes off. Lake Oswego plays at West Linn on October 9.
