Five teams come off. One of them was ranked 20th on Friday morning.
Out: Lone Peak (was 20), American Heritage (22), Creekside (23), Mount Carmel (34), Gainesville (50)

The top line
St. Frances Academy holds the top line. It has not played. It also has not been beaten, and nothing that happened over the weekend touched it. DeLand hosts it on Friday, 1-0 and ranked 16th in Florida, so the No. 1 team in America finally gets a real opponent. If St. Frances is not overwhelming, it comes down next week and it comes down hard.
Bishop Gorman moves to No. 2. It is 2-0, and the only team in the top ten with a win over another top ten team. It led Bosco 21-0, watched it disappear, and won 38-28 on Ace Amina's 54 yard throw to Corey Hinton Jr. with 6:49 left. Columbus of Florida on Saturday is its shot at the top line.
Baylor School to 3 and IMG Academy to 4. Both won into the room Bosco left. Baylor beat Brentwood Academy 38-20, and Brentwood is still 15th here. IMG won 59-3 over a team we no longer rank at all.
Santa Margarita to 5. A 27-0 shutout of Jones, ranked 20th in Florida, with Fletch Palmer throwing two touchdowns in his first career start. It plays at Centennial of Corona on Friday, 5 against 7.
Buford holds at 6. It beat Gainesville 39-19 after trailing 13-10. A win, not a statement.
St. John Bosco, 2 to 10
It was second in America and it spent a half in Las Vegas being outplayed before it got up off the floor. The comeback was real and it does not undo the three quarters in front of it. Brentwood Academy lost by 18 the same weekend and fell three, because Brentwood was never claiming to be the second best team in the country.
Corner Canyon holds at 11
It has outscored its two opponents 91-21, winning 51-14 at Davis and 40-7 at Timpview. Both games were on the road and both opponents were in the Utah top ten at kickoff. Nobody has been within four touchdowns. It has been 11th since Aug 17, and two wins inside its own state are not a reason to move it.
Lone Peak is off the board
Beaten 59-3 at home with a running clock at halftime and four turnovers. Its only win is 33-21 at Crimson Cliffs. A team that loses by 56 at home was not the 20th best team in America.
Gainesville comes off too, after losing 39-19 to Buford from 50th, with nowhere left to fall.
The risers
Thomas County Central, 43 to 29. It put 57 on Colquitt County, and Aidan McPherson scored six rushing touchdowns by himself, one from 79 yards.
Miami Central, 38 to 26. It flew to Orange County and won 23-22 at Orange Lutheran.
Oakland 36 to 28 on a 56-7 opener. Chaminade-Madonna 32 to 25 on 49-21. Hough 33 to 27 on a storm-delayed 15-10 in South Carolina. Mission Viejo 41 to 34 on 55-17. Sierra Canyon 16 to 14 on 42-21 at JSerra.
The five who came on
East St. Louis, 39. It beat No. 34 Mount Carmel 42-23 at a neutral site and ended a 19 game winning streak.
Clay-Chalkville, 40. It went into Fairburn and beat No. 23 Creekside 29-20. It plays No. 19 Thompson on Thursday, and that result will price it properly.
West Boca Raton, 45. It held No. 22 American Heritage to seven in a 24-7 win, and is now sixth in Florida on a board that has American Heritage 24th.
Miami Northwestern, 49. Fourth in Florida, and the highest ranked team in the state we were carrying nowhere. It beat Lakewood 20-13 on the road.
McCallie, 50. It beat Lipscomb Academy 27-24 in overtime on a goal line stand.
Northwestern and McCallie are on the board for the body of work behind them as much as for Friday, and it is worth saying that plainly rather than dressing up a 20-13 win as a statement.
