Sixty two to nothing. That's the whole scoreboard, and the scoreboard is the whole story. Grimsley played at James B. Dudley on Friday night, kickoff at 7 p.m. ET, and the zero on the home side never moved.
Grimsley came in at No. 73 in the SPIN Power 100 on the Oct. 20 board, down one spot from 72nd. Dudley was not on that board. Both programs call Greensboro home, which is the kind of detail that usually makes a game tighter rather than wider. Not this one.
A 62 point margin is a strange thing to describe, because there's nothing to describe. No late swing. No sequence that flipped it. The shutout means Dudley never got on the board at any point of any quarter, and the 62 means Grimsley kept finding the end of the field long after the result stopped being in question.
Some Friday nights are a conversation. This one was a statement read aloud, and then read again.
