No. 38 Edna Karr beat John Curtis 40-28 on Thursday night at Ed Daniels Field at Muss Bertolino Stadium in Kenner, extending its winning streak to 33 games, according to Crescent City Sports.
The game was moved from Friday to Thursday because of the threat from Isaias, according to WWL and High School Football America.
A tight first half. Karr led only 12-7 at halftime. Ronell Kindell's interception set up a 1-yard Jermond Macklin touchdown run in the first quarter. London Padgett's 1-yard sneak gave Curtis a 7-6 lead in the second, before Marlon Jones recovered a fumble and ran 10 yards for a Karr touchdown.
The third quarter decided it. Karr sacked Padgett for a safety, Jones ran 17 yards for his second touchdown and Juan Jasmin returned an interception 47 yards for a score. It was 28-7 after three.
Forest Johnson threw touchdown passes of 38 and 67 yards to Ky'mani Henry in the fourth quarter, and Henry finished with three catches for 113 yards. Curtis scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns. Padgett ran for one and threw for two more, the last after Curtis recovered an onside kick, but Karr's cushion held. Curtis turned the ball over three times.
Karr is 6-0 and 3-0 in district play. Curtis falls to 2-4 and 0-3.
Next. Karr hosts Archbishop Rummel on Friday, Oct. 16. Curtis hosts Brother Martin on Thursday, Oct. 15.
