Nine of the ten teams on the Utah board played in Week 6, and seven of them won. The two that lost, Lone Peak and Davis, lost to Corner Canyon and American Fork, the first and sixth teams on this same board. That is the whole accounting. Nothing from outside our top ten laid a hand on it.
Corner Canyon 37, Lone Peak 14
Corner Canyon is 5-1 and stays first. The one game this week that put two board teams in the same stadium was not close for long. Lone Peak falls to 3-3 and stays eighth, because losing to the best team in the state is not the kind of loss that moves a team off a board.
Four teams have not lost yet
Mountain Ridge, West of Salt Lake City, Herriman and Ridgeline are all 6-0, and they got there four different ways.
Mountain Ridge is second and was the only Utah board team to leave the state in Week 6, winning 54-41 at Chaparral in California. Ninety five points and a thirteen point margin on the road is a particular kind of result. It says the offense travels. It leaves the defense as an open question.
West is fifth after a 55-6 win over Hillcrest. Herriman is seventh after beating Westlake 48-7. Ridgeline is ninth after a 49-7 win over Deseret Peak. Three unbeaten teams, three blowouts, 132 points of combined margin in a single week.
Skyridge and American Fork keep pace
Skyridge is third at 5-1 after a 28-20 win over Lehi, the tightest result any board team had this week outside the two ranked matchups. American Fork is sixth at 5-1 and beat Davis 29-21, which moves Davis to 3-3 and leaves it tenth.
Orem was idle
Orem is 3-2 and did not play. Fourth on the board, and the only team here without a Week 6 result.
