De La Salle beat Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa 42-3 and moved up 12 places to 22nd in the country. Folsom beat Mission Viejo 35-21 and moved up 23, to 27th.
That is two Northern California teams inside the national top 30, which this region did not have a week ago. Folsom's win is the best any team up here has produced this season.

The Central Valley is here as a bloc, not a token
Central East of Fresno went to El Dorado Hills and beat Oak Ridge 20-14, having already won 42-12 over Grant. It is 2-0, it is fourth, and it is on the national board at 96 in its first season there.
Clovis comes in at ninth. It is 21st in California on the September 6 board, the highest rank available to anybody in this footprint, it won 44-14 at Salinas and beat Sanger by 26, and its only loss is 17-14 to Bakersfield, which is second in the Central Section. It is Brandon Nagle's first year.
Del Oro of Loomis is tenth on the strength of one result nobody else can match: 19-17 at St. Francis of Mountain View, the only direct win any candidate in this region owns over a ranked team from another section. St. Francis is sixth in the Central Coast Section and had beaten Manteca the week before.
A 1-1 team is third and a 2-0 team is fourth
Serra of San Mateo is 90th nationally and Central East is 96th, so the national board puts Serra above it. Serra won 28-21 at Kahuku, which is a genuinely hard thing to do, and its loss is to De La Salle. Central East is unbeaten. If the order looks wrong, the place to change it is the national board, not here.
Pittsburg moves above Oak Ridge on the editor's instruction. It lost 26-14 at home to St. John Bosco, national 14, after a 40-7 over Monterey Trail. That is the best loss on this board. Oak Ridge falls a place after losing by six at home, and still owns the best nonleague result on this half of the board, a 27-26 win at Argyle of Texas.
Archbishop Riordan won 47-7 but against an 0-2 opponent, and its loss is 21-13 at West of Salt Lake. It stays seventh.
Central Catholic of Modesto returns at eighth. It won the Holy Bowl 27-14 over St. Mary's of Stockton.
Out go St. Mary's of Stockton and Clovis North. One footprint note worth stating plainly: Kern County is Southern California and is not on this board. Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare are.
