Centennial of Corona, our 20th, plays De La Salle of Concord, our 18th, on Saturday at 2:00 PM Pacific at California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. It is a neutral site. De La Salle is the designated home team, and neither campus is involved.
De La Salle has not lost
De La Salle is 4-0 and first on our NorCal board. It won 44-7 at St. Mary's of Stockton last week. It is fifth on our Out West board, which puts it behind four teams and ahead of every other Northern California team in the footprint.
Centennial has lost twice, by two points total
Centennial is 2-2. Both losses were by a single point, 21-20 to Santa Margarita and 10-9 at Mater Dei. Santa Margarita is second on our national board and Mater Dei is 19th. Two games against teams we have in our top twenty, and Centennial lost them by a combined two points.
It beat Rancho Cucamonga 41-7 last week. It is fifth on our SoCal board and seventh Out West.
What Saturday does
The record says De La Salle. The losses say Centennial has been within a point of two of the best teams on our board. One of those readings is going to be wrong by Saturday night.
A Centennial win gives a 3-2 team a result over the NorCal No. 1 on a neutral field. A De La Salle win makes it 5-0 with a result over a team that has lost twice this season, both times by a point, both times to our top twenty.
Kickoff is 2:00 PM in California, Nevada and Arizona, and 3:00 PM in Utah.
