Cardinal Newman Moves Up to Sixth. Buchanan and Grant Are New.

SPIN NorCal Top 10 high school football rankings, Week 8, led by De La Salle, Folsom and Central East.

De La Salle won 42-0 at Cathedral Catholic, Folsom won 43-7 at Granite Bay, Central East won 42-13 at Clovis North on Thursday and Serra beat Valley Christian 50-19. The top four hold.

Oak Ridge won 28-14 at Rocklin and moves up one to fifth.

Cardinal Newman did not play and moves up to sixth. It is 3-2, its two losses are to Folsom in overtime and to De La Salle, and it beat Punahou of Honolulu 22-21. Del Oro did not play and moves up one to seventh.

Pittsburg lost 28-27 to Los Gatos and falls three places to eighth. Its other two losses are to St. John Bosco and Mission Viejo.

Two in, two out

Buchanan beat Clovis 49-42 and comes on at ninth. Grant of Sacramento comes on at 10th. It is 4-1, it beat Mater Academy East, fourth on our Nevada board, 35-28, and its only loss is at Central East.

Central Catholic of Modesto and Clovis come off.
