Bishop Gorman went to Santa Ana and beat Mater Dei 25-8. That is the Nevada result that travels, and it is the one that gets quoted all week. The one worth sitting with was played in Escalon, California, where Damonte Ranch lost by a point.
Nine of the ten teams on the Nevada board played in Week 6 and six won. Two of the three losses were board teams beating each other.
Gorman held Mater Dei to eight
Bishop Gorman is 4-1 and stays first. Eight points allowed on the road against Mater Dei is the number to hold onto here.
Two of the losses were inside the room
Mater Academy East Las Vegas beat Pinecrest Sloan Canyon 27-19. Mater Academy is 4-0 and fifth on this board. Pinecrest Sloan Canyon is 3-1 and fourth.
Liberty of Henderson beat Foothill of Henderson 48-17. Both sit at 3-2. Liberty is eighth, Foothill is sixth. Same shape, wider margin. This board is the Nevada Top 10 as it stood entering Week 6, and both results are now on the record.
The north had two very different weeks
Churchill County is 5-0, second on the board, and did not play. It is the only Nevada board team without a Week 6 result, and one of three still unbeaten alongside Palo Verde and Mater Academy East Las Vegas.
Damonte Ranch is 4-1 and seventh after losing 19-20 at Escalon in California. One point, out of state, and the only loss on this board that came from a team not on it.
The rest of the board
Palo Verde is 5-0 and third after a 23-19 win over Moapa Valley, the tightest win any Nevada board team had in Week 6. Coronado of Henderson is 4-1 and ninth after beating Desert Oasis 27-13. Faith Lutheran is 3-3 and tenth after a 38-6 win over SLAM Nevada.
