SPIN Cycle Utah: Mountain Ridge Rolls, Skyridge Wins It at the Gun, Lehi Stuns AF

The top two teams in the state both won, one by 38 and one with no time left. American Fork and Lone Peak lost, Ridgeline kept its streak alive, and Hurricane's unbeaten season ended.

The top of our Utah 10 held Friday. The middle did not. Every rank in this column is from that board.

Mountain Ridge 45, Herriman 7

No. 1 Mountain Ridge scored 28 points in the second quarter and beat No. 10 Herriman on Senior Night. Jaxon Hunt threw four touchdown passes, and Tyson Dunn and Tytan DeJong each scored twice. The Sentinels are 8-0 and alone in first in Region 2, and they have beaten Herriman five straight times. Our full recap is up on the site.

Mountain Ridge goes to Bingham next Friday. Herriman hosts Copper Hills, which beat Bingham 14-13 in overtime.

Skyridge 27, Lone Peak 24

No. 2 Skyridge won it on the last snap. Evan Kopp kicked a 19-yard field goal with no time left, after Lone Peak had come back from 24-9, the Deseret News reported. Beckham Bennett ran for 128 yards and three touchdowns. Lone Peak's Ledger Holmes ran for one score in the fourth and threw for another to Mailo Niumeitolu.

It is Skyridge's seventh straight win and Lone Peak's third straight loss.

Lehi 20, American Fork 19

No. 6 American Fork led 19-14 with five minutes left after Mason Brooks caught a 24-yard touchdown from Jake Matsen. Lehi answered. Briggs Jensen hit Zeke Clements for a 20-yard touchdown with 1:01 left, according to the Deseret News, and Lehi held on. Cam Bryce scored twice for Lehi. Lehi is not on our board, and this is the loss of the night in Utah.

The rest of the board

No. 3 Corner Canyon beat Cedar Valley 56-0. Beckham Coon caught touchdowns of 72 and 70 yards, Josh Harris returned a punt 58 yards for a score and Will Tenney returned an interception 58 yards to close the half, the Deseret News reported. Corner Canyon has won 13 straight at home.

No. 4 Orem beat Pleasant Grove 35-10 for its fourth straight win, with Krew Jones running for two touchdowns. No. 9 Davis beat Farmington 14-3 behind two Bode Sparrow touchdown catches from Paden Toula, a 14-yarder in the first quarter and a 31-yarder with 6:15 left. Davis is 2-0 in Region 1.

On Thursday, No. 8 Ridgeline beat Stansbury 42-39 for its 22nd straight win. Noah Fiefia ran for four touchdowns, and the Deseret News says he leads the state with 27 rushing touchdowns this season. No. 5 West beat West Jordan 63-0 as Kamden Lopati threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns, according to MaxPreps.

Around the state

The upset of the night came in Region 9, where Snow Canyon beat Hurricane 28-27 and handed the Tigers their first loss. Box Elder beat Fremont 17-16 on a late field goal by Tytan Hupp.
