Four points. That's the whole story and the whole argument. Pinnacle beat Boulder Creek 35-31 on Friday, Nov. 6, at Boulder Creek, and nothing about that number suggests anybody got comfortable.
Thirty-five and thirty-one is a scoreboard that keeps everyone honest. Both sides got where they wanted to go often enough to make the other one nervous, and the margin stayed thin enough that one more trip either direction flips the whole thing. Pinnacle just happened to be the side holding the extra four when it stopped mattering what anybody did next.
Road teams don't get style points for showing up at a place like this, and Pinnacle didn't need any. It took the host's best and finished in front, which is the only currency that spends. Boulder Creek got to 31 at home and that wasn't quite enough, which is a hard sentence to read and a harder one to live.
Final from Anthem: Pinnacle 35, Boulder Creek 31. Close games don't care how close they were.
